Frequently Asked Questions

Roof Top Tent Care

The number one most frequently asked question is:

How do I look after my newly purchased roof top tent?

Pack your tent away properly and dry! - Take your time.

When closing your roof top tent ensure the rubber seal is in place properly with all the canvas pushed inside of the shell. This is vital to preventing water from entering your tent and preventing you thinking your tent leaks. If even just a tiny bit of fabric is hanging out of the tent it will act like a wick and draw water into the shell.

Drying your tent is the most important thing you can do, if you pack it away without drying it you will get mould.

Air out your tent regularly!

Even if you haven't used your tent in months, open it up in the sun and let it air out properly. We recommend opening your tent once a week to let it air out. Any moisture in the tent will eventually cause mould, the tents get hot in the sun and act like an incubator. So always air it out the more often the better.

Don't overpack the tent!

If it is considerably harder to close or you struggle to close the tent then you have too much inside of the shell.

Why does my tent walls get a bit wet overnight?

The average human exhales 0.5L of water every night! If two people are in the tent then there's an additional 1L of moisture in the air, this increases if there's an increase in activity too. To reduce this we have added a 10 mm condensation pad and vents in the upper corners to increase air circulation. We recommend leaving the windows open when possible to eliminate condensation all together.
